B.C. woman goes into surprise labour on Labour Day

A B.C. woman who didn’t even know she was pregnant gave birth on Labour Day, reports Global BC. Commenting on the news, UBC obstetrics and gynecology professor Deborah Money said surprise births are not unheard of.

“For some women, typically who have perhaps irregular menstrual cycles, or infrequent menstrual cycles as part of their natural background, who maybe have been on some sort of birth control that they thought was working that obviously wasn’t, simply put down all of the symptomatology of pregnancy to one or other explanation,” said Money.
