A UBC researcher has developed a novel, gentler way of monitoring migraines, paving the way for better understanding and treatment of the disease, reports 24 Hours.
Electrical and computer engineering professor Guy Dumont and colleagues found a way to use amplified EEGs to monitor a special type of brainwave linked to migraines, instead of using more invasive procedures.
“Typically the way to see it is to place electrodes either deep in the brain or on the surface of the brain,” Dumont said.
