More older women giving birth

For the first time in Canada’s history, older mothers are having more children than teens are, and UBC nursing professor Elizabeth Saewyc spoke to CBC Daybreak South about the trend.

For family dynamics, this trend has both pluses and negatives, as older parents tend to have more education and preparation for having children, according to Saewyc. But they would also be sandwiched between the needs of their aging parents and their own retirement, and the costs of raising children.
