B.C. group criticizes federal approach to climate change

A B.C. environmental law group is calling for a better climate change action plan from the federal government that will ensure even and equitable contributions from all the provinces, according to the Globe and Mail.

James Tansey, a professor at UBC’s Sauder School of Business and a member of the climate leadership team in B.C., said Ottawa has the ability to introduce measures to meet its goals, such as enacting a national carbon tax.

“There’s no question about their jurisdiction to be able to impose a national taxation system and a carbon price,” said Tansey.
