UBC study finds unexpected link between glaucoma and impotence

A new UBC study has found that glaucoma and impotence are linked, reports the National Post.

Researchers found that glaucoma patients were 2.58 times more likely to have erectile dysfunction and that the more severe the glaucoma, the more serious the impotence problem. Co-author and UBC ophthalmology professor Frederick Mikelberg emphasized that the results do not indicate a cause and effect relationship. One possibility is that changes to blood vessels caused by inflammation may be behind both conditions.
