Scientist fought for recognition in male-dominated profession

CBC featured the work and life of Maria Issa, a clinical education professor at UBC’s Pathology Education Centre.

Issa’s PhD research found a key element in understanding how HIV affects the human body. She has been an advocate and mentor for women in science and sat on the board of the Society of Canadian Women in Science and Technology.
