British Columbia’s failed healthcare experiment

Kimberlyn McGrail, a professor at UBC’s School of Population and Public Health, co-wrote an op-ed published in Ottawa Life Magazine on the B.C. health care system.

McGrail and Ruth Lavergne of Simon Fraser University maintain that the first point of contact with the health care system should be prompt and efficient.

“We need to broaden the team that is involved in choosing reforms to include Health Authorities, nurses and other service providers – and patients. All are necessary to delivering primary care and so all should have a hand in shaping it,” they wrote.
