Maclean’s interviewed Dan Hiebert, a UBC geography professor, for an article on the challenges facing Syrian refugees in Canada.
“There was endless focus on whether we were on track: ‘Are the Liberals going to fulfill their promise by the end of 2015? Are they going to fulfill their promise by the end of February?’” Hubert said. “To me, these were absolute side issues. The real issue was whether the systems were in place that are necessary for integration to happen.”
