Bloor Street bike lanes, bike club attract female cyclists

CBC featured research from UBC’s School of Population and Public Health for a story on areas of Toronto that attract female cyclists.

Research from the University of Toronto and UBC released in 2015 found that of the 3,690 annual hospitalizations for bicycling injuries among youths and adults, 76 per cent were men.

The study’s authors believe the difference is because female cyclists take fewer risks on the road and choose safer routes.
