Food for thought

Pique Magazine interviewed UBC social work professor emeritus Graham Riches for a story on Whistler residents using the food bank.

The article reported that more than 2,000 Whistler people from a population of about 10,000 permanent residents used the food bank last year.

“We have to change the conversation from food charity to the right to food, and the right to food is about government at all levels…being the ‘primary duty bearers’ in terms of their responsibility for the collective social well-being of their populations,” Riches said.
