Vancouver players among eSports elite

Metro News featured the UBC eSports Association for an article on the success of virtual gamers in Vancouver.

“We started out as the StarCraft club in November of 2010 with just a few people around a table. Enough people to start a club at UBC,” said Hantao Yuan, senior advisor and presidential alumni for the UBC eSports Association.

There has been huge eSports growth at UBC as the school becoming an official eSports Association in 2012 and expanded from a few students to 800 members, and more online.

UBC beat out 31 other teams to win the University League of Legends Campus Series in April.
