Indigenous Calgarians struggle to find their cultural identity

CBC News included a quote from Daniel Heath Justice, chair of UBCs First Nations and Indigenous Studies department, for a story on indigenous identity among Calgarians.

“Indigenous belonging is more than right to ‘ethnic’ heritage — it’s relationships of obligation, citizenship, acknowledgment, reciprocity,” Justice wrote on Twitter.

Calgary’s indigenous population increased by 75 per cent from 1996 to 2006.
