Discussing the impact of the Brexit vote

UBC political scientist Yves Tiberghien was interviewed on CBC’s The Early Edition about the implications of the Brexit vote.

Tiberghien said there are several levels of government that have huge changes ahead.

“For Britain and for the E.U. it’s an enormous endeavour. There’s 13,000 E.U. regulations that have been embedded into British law. One-sixth of all British laws are coming from the E.U.” he said. “There are great questions about the global liberal order – that’s why the U.S. is worried, Japan is worried. This is a huge body blow into the structure of globalization because it comes at a vulnerable time.”
