Death toll climbs in Istanbul airport bombings

Peter Klein, director of the UBC Global Reporting Centre, discussed the Turkey bombings in a CKNW interview. Among other things, Klein said there’s been a lot of work done in the past years to understand the mentality of suicide bombers, but it remains a complex issue. Those bombers who failed in their mission later said that they regretted what they were doing, that as much as they were willing to sacrifice their life for a greater cause, they were brainwashed into making the attempt, or were suffering from some form of psychosis.
