Minimal Canadian economic impact with successful Brexit vote

In an interview with CKNW, John Ries, a UBC professor at the Sauder School of Business, said a successful Brexit vote would have a minimal impact on Canada.

“Most of our business is with the U.S. and with Asia, so if there is any disruption of business with the continent, any trouble, economic trouble there, I think the effect on Canada will be quite limited.”

A similar story appeared on News 1130 and in the Times Colonist.

Kurt Hübner, director of UBC’s  Institute for European Studies was also interviewed on the topic for Daily Hive.

“At this moment, there seems to be a very unusual situation where the very vast majority of international experts and organizations, who do all sorts of simulation studies and play similar scenarios, are all saying there will be short-term, medium-term, and long-term impacts,” Hübner said.
