John Ries, a UBC economist, discussed this week’s Brexit vote on Roundhouse Radio and the potential international consequences of the U.K. leaving the European Union.
“I think for British Columbians there would potentially be some effects on currencies… when there are times of economic stress for one reason or another, money ends up flowing to the U.S. and that leads to the U.S. dollar strengthening. So it might affect the value of the loonie,” he said.
