Why Vancouver parents buy condos for their kids

CTV News interviewed UBC economist Tom Davidoff on the ways Vancouver parents help their kids break into the real estate market.

As parents and grandparents buy condos with their younger generation in mind Davidoff said this real estate strategy could ensure young Vancouverites can get into the housing market.

“If my family has been in Vancouver for a long time, and the next generation must have a home here, then I think eliminating the risk of the children being priced out could be a sensible strategy,” he said.
