Manufacturer updating Roman arch for modern-day use

UBC’s Earthquake Engineering Research Facility was featured in a Journal of Commerce story on a pre-cast concrete block design with significant modern-day use.

The pre-cast concrete is called Arch-Block and was based on the Roman arch. UBC earthquake researchers are creating a testable computer model of what happens to an arch built with Arch-Lock during an earthquake.
