Increased testing reveals cluster of HIV cases in Okanagan

CBC News included a UBCO study for a story on a cluster of HIV cases in the north Okanagan.

The Interior Health Authority, said 10 to 20 new HIV diagnoses are made in the B.C. Interior each year but halfway through 2016 between 10 and 12 cases have already been confirmed.

The UBCO research found that men who have sex with men are less likely to talk about sexual activity with their family doctor in rural areas compared to urban areas. This can make it challenging to diagnose HIV/AIDS in rural areas.
