B.C.’s indigenous health care program has trained 27,000

The Globe and Mail reported on an indigenous health care training program that was made mandatory for UBC medicine students.

According to B.C. health officials, 27,000 workers and students have been trained on providing care that takes into account the culture and history of indigenous patients. The program took effect at UBC two years ago and fits in with recommendations made by Canada’s Truth and Reconciliation Commission.
