Partner violence at home must be addressed at work

Metro News reported on a UBC study that found domestic abuse has a ‘spillover’ effect on workplaces but part of the solution can occur at work.

Report co-author Karl Aquino of the Sauder School of Business said women who deal with aggression from their intimate partners are less likely to be promoted and succeed. Still, the office can play a positive role.

“A supportive work environment can serve as a ‘safe haven’ for those women who experienced intimate partner aggression,” the report states, “by offering them respite to replenish lost resources.”
