Discussing the psychology of killers

Edward Taylor, UBCO social work professor, was interviewed on CFAX on the topic of pathways to terrorism in light of the Orlando mass shooting.

“One of the pathways towards terrorism whether you’re Christian, Muslim, or atheist is when you start to focus on something and it becomes a crystallized belief,” Taylor said. “However it takes something else to move you from that crystallized belief into becoming an assassin [or a] murderer.”

Taylor explained how instability, crystallized beliefs and the need for fame can all often contribute to the motivations of killers.

The interview starts at about 10:15.
