James Johnson, a diabetes expert and professor at UBC’s department of cellular and physiological sciences, was quoted in a Vancouver Sun story about a Vancouver magazine celebrating diverse body shapes.
Johnson weighed in on the risk of overweight people developing diabetes.
“Whether an individual progresses from overweight to pre-diabetes to diabetes, for example, depends on many factors including what the primary type of fat tissue is,” Johnson told the Sun.
