That new superbug was found in a UTI and that’s key

A Wired story on the connection between antibiotic-resistant bacteria and urinary tract infections features research by UBC epidemiologist Amee Manges.

Manges has found that routine surveillance of UTIs can help scientists better understand resistant bacteria that come from various sources including meat, drinking water, travel or family members being in the hospital.

“UTIs are a good picture of what people are being exposed to on a daily basis,” Manges said.
