The Globe and Mail reported on a UBC study that found older women were more likely to be prescribed inappropriate medications.
“Being a woman elevated the risk of receiving these inappropriate prescriptions by between 16 and 23 per cent,” said lead author Steve Morgan, director of UBC’s Centre for Health Services and Policy.
Tranquilizers were the most common drugs prescribed when they should not have been.
