Dadaab teacher education program

UBC lecturer Bathseba Opini talked about working on the UBC-sponsored Dadaab Refugee Camp teacher education program on Roundhouse Radio.

Education is one of the significant rights, Opini said, praising UBC’s lead role in developing an elementary teacher education program for the refugee camp, which was set up for 90,000 people and is now home to half a million.

“It’s been a huge humbling learning experience for me,” said Opini. “I was facilitating the learning process but I was learning a lot from them–how they are looking at what is happening in their space, the visions they had about what to do after they had graduated.”
