Tech millionaire steps in to save historic Friedman House

A tech millionaire from Ottawa has stepped in to buy the Friedman House, a mid-century home in University Endowment Lands that had been targeted for demolition, reports the Globe and Mail.

The house was designed by Fred Lasserre, who was head of UBC’s architecture program, for the owners in 1953. The proceeds of the house will support UBC scholarships set up in Dr. Friedman’s name, according to the Globe.
