Air Canada’s launch of direct flights between Vancouver and Delhi this October could increase the flow of medical tourists to India, according to News 1130.
Dr. Michael Curry, an emergency physician at Delta Hospital who also teaches at UBC, doesn’t think there will be a significant increase, but warns against possible complications arising from surgery abroad.
“So we end up in a situation where the Canadian system is covering up the aftercare and complications that may arise from services provided elsewhere,” Curry said.
