UBC and contractor charged with Fisheries Act violations

UBC and a contractor are facing charges relating to the alleged discharge of ammonia into a storm sewer which fed a fish-bearing creek, reports CBC News.

UBC manager of public affairs Susan Danard said the school recently became aware of the charges, and that the university “is committed to the prevention of any unlawful discharge into its storm water system, whether arising from campus operations or research activities.”
