Wiebe: Assisted dying bill would help most patients

UBC clinical professor Dr. Ellen Wiebe, who assisted a woman with ALS to end her life, has commented on the Supreme Court decision last year and Thursday’s Bill C-14 which would allow Canadians the option of assisted suicide.

In an Ottawa Citizen op-ed, Wiebe wrote: “If C-14 becomes our new law, I expect court challenges from patients who are excluded. For most patients requesting assisted death, however, it is a good law and I am glad to work within this law to help my patients have control over their deaths.”
