Dental should be available for all: UBC researchers

Dental care should be included in basic medical care, according to UBC researchers who surveyed low income and aboriginal people in B.C. and Ontario.

UBC nursing researcher Annette Browne told News 1130 that 44 percent of those surveyed regularly experienced pain in their teeth or mouth, but many couldn’t afford treatment.

“There are people on social assistance, or on disability, that are not able to access the kinds of preventative dental care that many of us do,” said Browne.
