Vice highlighted Canada’s plans to build a new seaport in the high Arctic as part of efforts to assert its sovereignty in the Far North.
The port will act as a new northern base for the Canadian military. Says UBC Arctic expert Michael Byers: “It does, on the political level, show that Canada is taking its Arctic seriously.”
