In the wake of recent terrorist attacks in Belgium, Pakistan, and elsewhere, UBC president Martha Piper says education is our best response to rejecting terror.
“Our best protection rests not in focusing on our differences, but in maintaining and modelling a just and inclusive society,” wrote Piper, in a Vancouver Sun op-ed. “UBC is committed to playing its essential role, by supporting discussion and debate, by helping us understand one another, and by showing the world that education is the best response to the fear bred of ignorance.”
