B.C. tattoo artist transforms scars of trauma survivors

The use of tattoos for healing was the focus of a recent Canadian Press article.

Vancouver tattoo artist Auberon Wolf paints tattoos around traces of self-abuse, physical violence, injury or surgery, transforming them into healing or empowering symbols.

UBC nursing professor Saewyc, who studies trauma and resilience, says the process can be very positive and the pain that comes with it could be “grounding” for people who have experienced severe distress.

The article appeared on CTV News, CBC News and the Globe and Mail.
