By using technology, aboriginal artists can reproduce their work–in this case, an intricately carved door–into more affordable pieces with wider market potential, reports CTV News.
The creative business model was a brainchild of UBC’s Chris Gaston.
“I think people would be more inclined a buy a piece that’s going to be part of their home rather than just a piece of art that’s just going to hang on the wall,” said Gaston, who helps run UBC’s aboriginal forestry program.
