Technology meets traditional indigenous art

By using technology, aboriginal artists can reproduce their work–in this case, an intricately carved door–into more affordable pieces with wider market potential, reports CTV News.

The creative business model was a brainchild of UBC’s Chris Gaston.

“I think people would be more inclined a buy a piece that’s going to be part of their home rather than just a piece of art that’s just going to hang on the wall,” said Gaston, who helps run UBC’s aboriginal forestry program.
