Poking holes in Vancouver’s housing vacancy study

The limitations of Vancouver’s vacant housing report was the focus of an article in the Globe and Mail. Some members of the media said the report proves that there is no connection between foreign buyers and affordability, a response that UBC professor David Ley called “misplaced.”

Another UBC academic, real estate economist Tom Davidoff, noted that the results might have been skewed by the lack of 2015 data.
