Questions raised about access to physician-assisted death

Media outlets highlighted the logistical barriers behind the physician-assisted suicide of a Calgary woman, who couldn’t find a doctor to help her in Calgary and ended up working with two physicians in Vancouver. One of the doctors was Ellen Wiebe, a clinical professor at UBC and a member of Hemlock AID, an organisation that provides B.C. patients with information about and access to assisted death.

Speaking to Global News, Wiebe said the woman found her after searching for a provider in Europe, and there was a two-month relationship between Skype and email before the final day.
