Bloomberg: Trudeau drops campaign promises and goes all in with deficits
UBC economics professor and occasional Liberal party adviser Kevin Milligan is mentioned in Bloomberg and Huffington Post articles on the government’s deficit spending plan. Times of India: Coming, a ‘smart’ window that turns into a TV screen
Times of India featured UBC Okanagan research that could potentially transform glass into a self-regulating thermostat, a big TV screen and other smart technologies. The team, led by UBCO professor Kenneth Chau, laid extremely thin layers of metal to enhance the amount of light coming through the glass. Given that metals naturally conduct electricity, it may soon be possible to add advanced technologies to windowpanes. Times of India

Concern about pollution in Rio’s waterways is growing ahead of the Olympics, reports CBC News. Bob McCormack, a UBC medicine professor who has viewed the data from regular water testing at the Olympic sites, says only six per cent of international athletes have become ill in the water-based test events held in Rio.
