In a Vancouver Sun op-ed, B.C. union leaders called on UBC to reject divestment calls and focus instead on doing research that leads to better energy use and creative solutions to the problems caused by fossil fuels.
The op-ed was signed by Mark Gordienko, Steve Hunt, Brian Cochrane and Tom Sigurdson, representing, respectively, the International Longshore and Warehouse Union Canada, United Steel Workers (Western Canada), International Union of Operating Engineers Local 115, and B.C. Building Trades.
