Antidepressant raises risk of postpartum hemorrhage

UBC research has found that women taking a common antidepressant late in their pregnancy were 60 per cent more likely to suffer complications in childbirth, according to the Vancouver Sun.

More than one in 10 women taking the antidepressant Effexor suffered excessive bleeding. However, the researchers cautioned against women stopping medication without checking with their doctor.
