Many New Year’s resolutions start to ebb around the end of January, according to Pique newsmagazine.
UBC counselling psychology professor Rhea Owens, commenting on the phenomenon, said: “A lot of times these New Year’s resolutions are undesirable behaviours — things that we don’t particularly like about ourselves or want to change about ourselves — but at the same time these behaviours that we want to change are very intrinsically rewarding.”
