The UBC Earthquake Engineering Research Institute (EERI) seismic design team returned from the 2015 Undergraduate Seismic Design Competition in Boston with several awards: second place in poster presentation, third place in architecture, fifth place in oral presentation and seventh place in design proposal. The team of 30 students worked 750 hours to design and construct a 1/78th scale model of a 30 storey high-rise building from balsa wood.
