UBC professor thinks Amsterdam idea could work in Vancouver

Amsterdam is studying banning cars in a part of its downtown core on Saturdays to encourage cyclists and pedestrians and reduce motor traffic.

Lawrence Frank, a professor of sustainable transportation and health at UBC, says the idea could work for Vancouver’s Granville and Robson streets, both shopping and dining meccas that receive a lot of traffic.
