A growing number of cars have telematics built-in — devices that enable wireless connections between the vehicle and the wider world.
In a report released March 25, the B.C. Freedom of Information and Privacy Association said connected cars are collecting vast amounts of personal data from consumers — sparking calls for data protection policies to be put in place at this early stage of telematics adoption.
UBC engineering expert Dave Michelson is available to comment on the report, telematics technology, and consumer privacy.
