B.C. has more drinking water advisories than other provinces partly because many of its 3,000 water systems are in remote communities with limited resources, says UBC engineer Madjid Mohseni who works on clean water projects with First Nations and rural communities.
He said small island communities are particularly hard pressed to pay for water treatment, because of the added cost of shipping supplies.
