The Women’s Executive Network has named Applied Science Associate Dean Elizabeth Croft and Radiology Professor Paula Gordon among Canada’s 100 Most Powerful Women.
Gordon heads the Sadie Diamond breast program at BC Women’s Hospital & Health Centre. She pioneered the use of ultrasound-guided needle biopsy of breast lumps, now the standard of care.
Croft (BASc ‘88) is a leading advocate of women in science, engineering and technology disciplines on Canada’s west coast. She founded Westcoast Women in Engineering, Science, & Technology (WWEST) to attract women into engineering and science careers.
Six UBC alumni were also named to the list: Amiee Y. Chan (BASc ’92, PhD ’00), Tracey L. McVicar (BCom ‘90), Anne E. Giardini (LLB ’84), Allison G. Grafton (BA ’91), Wendy P. Lisogar-Cocchia (BA ’86) and Cybele A. Negris, (BA ’91). For more information, click here.
