UBC prof becomes new Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Engineering

Xiaotao (Tony) Bi, a professor in the Dept. of Chemical and Biological Engineering, was one of 49 new Fellows inducted into the Canadian Academy of Engineering on June 26. Bi has made outstanding contributions to the advancement of fluidization engineering and to clean energy conversion systems, particularly on thermal cracking of heavy oil, thermochemical conversion of forest biomass residues, and animal wastes. He played a key role in incorporating sustainability into engineering training and practice, by developing green engineering, clean energy, and engineering and public policy courses and programs at UBC.
