Unmanned Aerial Systems team takes flight

The UBC Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) team brings together undergrad students from Engineering, Forestry, Sauder and Science with a passion for autonomous aerial vehicles that can map uncharted territory, take photos and create a digital layout of the area surveyed. The team entered the 2014 UAS competition for the first time using UASs to survey a simulated crop plantation for disaster affected areas and for security monitoring.

Team members spend five to 30 hours a week programming, designing and securing funding to market their aircraft. The team is gearing up for the 2015 Unmanned Aerial Systems Student Team Competition in Quebec next April. Click here for more info.
