UBC Engineering announces Goldcorp Professor for Women in Engineering

The Faculty of Applied Science announces Sheryl Staub-French, associate professor in civil engineering, as the inaugural holder of the Goldcorp Professorship in Women in Engineering at UBC.

As Goldcorp Professor, Staub-French will lead a targeted recruitment strategy for UBC Engineering that plans to increase the number of women enrolled in its programs from the national average of 20 per cent to close to 50 per cent by 2019. For the 2014-15 academic year, UBC Engineering has already seen an increase in percentage of women students accepting offers for admission from 24.1 to 29.4 per cent – a 22 per cent increase.  Click here for more information.
