Jill Zwicker, assistant professor of Occupational Science and Occupational Therapy (OS&OT), was awarded a Career Development Award from the Canadian Child Health Clinician Scientist Program. The award is a four-year salary award that will support her in growing her program of research on developmental coordination disorder.
OS&OT PhD candidate Kristine Theurer has been awarded a doctoral research scholarship by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada. Her project “Please don’t throw balloons at me: An investigation of social citizenship in long-term care homes” examines ways to improve psychosocial quality of life for residents in long-term care facilities.
OS&OT MSc student Karen Davies has won the CIHR Masters Award for her project titled “Long-term follow-up of children with idiopathic toe walking,” which examines the condition where children walk on their toes for several years with no underlying medical reason.
Bachelor of Rehabilitation Science graduate Marjorie Hackett has received the Helen P. LeVesconte Award for Volunteerism from the Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists (CAOT). She is acknowledged for her leadership in volunteer efforts at CAOT and the Canadian Occupational Therapy Foundation.
